In 2023, a scientific study into the effectiveness of IEMT was initiated through a collaboration between JeBeNTR, IEMT Training, Maastricht University and De Breinkliniek. |

In March of that year, the research proposal was approved by the ethics committee. In the spring, we started the first part of the research at Maastricht University, followed by the second part of the study at De Breinkliniek in Wamel in the autumn. We are currently processing the results of the studies investigating the effectiveness of IEMT. Publication will take some more time, but the initial findings are encouraging. Below is an update on the studies we have conducted to investigate the effectiveness of IEMT. Of the three planned studies, we now have data from two. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped us share our calls for participants, enabling us to recruit a sufficient number of participants. In the second study, conducted at the neurofeedback clinic De Breinkliniek, participants experienced an IEMT session using the PTSD protocol. Brain activity was measured before, during and after the session using a QEEG scanner. We now have all the data from this study and are starting the data analysis. This will be a substantial undertaking. The third study will be developed in September and will focus primarily on the broader applicability of IEMT. At this stage, we cannot yet share definitive results. The original findings must first be published before we can share them more widely. What we can share, however, is that as researchers we have witnessed fascinating, remarkable and powerful experiences during these studies, with several participants achieving significant positive results. The individual feedback we received from participants has been positive and enthusiastic. The brain scans we have seen are impressive, as are the preliminary figures we have calculated so far. IEMT is certainly a promising technique. We are continuing our work and making every effort to publish the findings as quickly as possible. Experience shows that the publication process takes time. Stay tuned! We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the therapists who contributed to these two studies, as well as to De Breinkliniek for facilitating the research and providing their outstanding expertise in EEG data collection and analysis. The research team consists of Dalena van Heugten (Maastricht University), Luuk van Leur (De Breinkliniek), Naima Trouk (JeBeNTR) and Anne ten Brinke (IEMT Training).
